Dataphyte noted that the sum of N4.08 trillion has been allocated to the education sector between 2015-2021. If approved, the 2022 proposed budget would take total allocation to the sector over 8 years to N4.95 trillion.
The 2022 budget has the highest capital allocation over the 8 year period being considered. It meets the 20% Education for all Fast Track Initiative benchmark of allocating at least 20% of the sector’s budget to capital projects.
Typically, budgetary allocations to the sector showed that it’s budget has been heavily recurrent.
