NDHS data shows that 36% of ever-married women have experienced spousal physical, sexual, and emotional violence. 

Husbands with no education have the highest percentage of husbands who commit the spectrum of spousal physical, emotional and sexual violence, while those with unspecified educational backgrounds take up second place. 

Husbands that have only primary school education have the third highest percentage across all forms of spousal violence committed while those with up to secondary education are fourth. 

According to NOI Polls, 56% of Nigerians think violence against women by men is higher and occurs more frequently in Nigeria.
