The digital booking portal of the Abuja-Kaduna railway has now become active with passengers able to book train tickets online.
This is coming after Dataphyte’s story, which revealed that the N900 million e-ticketing portal of the Nigerian Railway Corporation was non-functional and failing to ensure that people could book and pay for train tickets online.
The report was published on July 14.
In 2021, the then Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, had announced that the country had started a N900 million e-ticketing project for the NRC.
The project specifically targeted the Abuja-Kaduna railway line.
Our reporter had severally tried to book train tickets using the platform, but the efforts were futile.

However, Dataphyte can confirm that the portal has come alive, allowing would-be passengers to book for tickets via the platform.
The absence of a digital payment platform has been blamed for the loss of revenue by the railway corporation, a development blamed on corrupt practices and poor management.
