Atiku wins presidential election in Osun, Tinubu takes Ekiti

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has beaten Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) , Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), among others, to clinch victory in Osun.

Abubakar scored 354,366 votes to win in 20 local government areas, defeating Tinubu of the APC, who scored 343,945 votes and claimed victory in 10 local governments.

Tinubu is trailed by Obi, who scored a total of 23,283 votes. He is followed by Kwankwaso of the NNPP, who got 713 votes.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) State Collation Officer, Professor Folashade Ogunsola, total votes cast during the election totalled 756744.

However, Tinubu defeated other candidates to emerge voctorious in Ekiti State, polling a total of 201,494 votes.

He is trailed by Abubakar of the PDP, who scored 89,554 votes. Peter Obi of the LP got 11,397 votes whereas Kwankwaso  polled 264 votes.

 Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Osun State, who was the collation officer during the poll, said there were 988,923 registered voters, while the number of accredited voters was 315,058. 

Tinubu hails from the South-West region while Atiku is from the North-East.
